“Happy hour” describes a series of activities taking place at Twin City Coffee every Friday. "Happy hour" derives from a classic quotation from Shakespeare's drama Henry IV: “Therefore, omit no happy hour that may give furtherance to our expedition.” Here, doctors, researchers and students from different backgrounds are able to communicate freely and deeply on topics such as solving a challenging clinical problem and developing new therapeutics from bench-to-bedside research. Here are a few of the highlights from the past year:
Classical Music and Life
On March 30th, 2022, “Classical Music and Life” kicked off. Professor Chen Yagang shared his life-long affection for classical music. Immersed in the melodies, the participants felt refreshed and relaxed.
Meet the Faculty
On April 1st, 2022, Professor Yan Wei shared his cutting-edge research achievements in reproductive medicine, which sparked a spirited discussion among the doctors, researchers, and students.
Book Sharing Activity
On April 8th, 2022, to mark World Reading Day, the ZJU-ISM staff members exchanged their favorite books and shared their reading experiences with each other, indulging and fostering their passion for reading.
International Nurses Day Activity
On May 12th, 2022, ZJU-ISMers celebrated International Nurses Day. On behalf of the hospital leadership, Professor Chen Weiying (Vice Dean of International Affairs) expressed her heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to the nurses, hoping that they will become the backbone of future medical care. Professor Liu Fuqin from Texas Woman's University School of Nursing shared her experiences in nursing education and studies. She encouraged the nurses to enrich themselves through continuous study and to be their best selves.
Tea Culture Activity
On July 1st, 2022, Zhang Yuanyuan , a guest professor from Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College, delivered a lecture on tea culture. During the activity "Cha Bai Xi", the participants were captivated by the great charm of traditional tea culture.
English Vocabulary Contest
On November 11th, 2022, the English vocabulary contest was held to stimulate the staff’s interest in learning English. The participants displayed great enthusiasm and competed fiercely, demonstrating the thriving spirit of ZJU-ISMers.
Looking back on 2022, ZJU-ISMers have benefited greatly from the happy hour activities, and we expect that in 2023 there will be more laughter at Twin City Coffee.
