On November 13th, 2023, diplomatic delegates including Martin Charles, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica in Beijing; Marcelo Clovis Magnou Pérez, Consul General of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Shanghai; Gonzalo Figueroa, Consul General of the Republic of Chile in Shanghai; Igor Pacolak, Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Shanghai and; Hector Angulo, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Colombia in Shanghai; paid a visit to ZJU-ISM. They were warmly received by Prof. Xu Jian, Chairman of ZJU-ISM, Prof. Chen Weiying, Vice Dean for International Affairs, ZJU-ISM, and several MBBS student representatives.
At the Student Plaza, Prof. Chen Weiying gave a detailed introduction to the history of ZJU-ISM and its state-of-the-art facilities, showcasing the institution's commitment to excellence in medical education. “We are sparing no efforts to improve the level of medical education and internationalization of our school,”said Prof. Chen Weiying.

The delegates also had the opportunity to tour a smart classroom that provides the 92 ZJU-ISM MBBS students from 25 countries with access to an extensive range of course resources in various disciplines of the University covering medicine, engineering, and languages, etc. This tour underscored ZJU-ISM's integration of advanced technology in its teaching methodologies.
Besides the refreshing tour of the brand-new campus, the delegates were also engaged in a series of interactive activities, including playing ping-pong with ZJU-ISM staff members, and observing a basketball class at the sports center, highlighting the school's emphasis on a holistic educational approach that includes physical well-being.
A notable moment of the visit was the face-to-face interaction between Martin Charles, the Ambassador of Dominica, and MBBS students during the basketball class. “All work and no play is not good; it is very good to participate in physical activities to ease the pressure from classes. Make us proud of you in the next 6 years, and I will be happy to return to Yiwu to attend your graduation ceremony.” The students were highly inspired by the ambassador’s speech and expressed their resolution to study hard and maintain their health, making their families, the university and their homelands proud of them.
This event not only symbolized the growing international influence of ZJU-ISM but also reinforced its ongoing commitment to international outreach and collaboration in the field of medical education.
