A series of Fireside Chats held at International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University (ZJU-ISM) brought together distinguished speakers and 2023 MBBS students, creating a platform for insightful discussions and valuable mentorship from November 22nd to December 1st. Vice Dean Chen Weiying along with esteemed medical professionals and scientists were at the sessions to provide students with perspectives on their academic journey, career paths, campus life and personal development.

Vice Dean Chen Weiying shared the reasons behind organizing the event, “We’re midway through the semester. Our aim is to assist you in navigating this transitional phase, to lend an ear to your stories and feelings regarding campus and academic life.” She gave three invaluable tips to the students: (1) Cultivate motivation, (2) Foster connections with adults, and (3) Embrace the strength of peer support.

The professors and doctors shared with us about their past experiences as medical students, and I really resonated with them as they have been where I currently am. I believe that if they can successfully go through it, then I can also do the same.”

The Fireside Chats not only provided students with valuable insights into the medical profession but also fostered a sense of community and mentorship, empowering them to navigate the challenges of their academic and professional journeys.
