ZJU-ISM Holds the First Plenary Meeting of the Education Committee
On 16 February, the first plenary meeting of the Education Committee was successfully held at the International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University (ZJU-ISM). Prof. Wang Kai, chairman of ZJU4H and ZJU-ISM Council; Prof. Luo Jianhong, former vice president of ZJU; Prof. Han Wei, deputy director of the Undergraduate School of ZJU, and other committee members attended the meeting. Prof. Chen Weiying, vice dean for Education and International Affairs, presided over the meeting.

The members of the Education Committee consist of the dean of ZJU-ISM, professors from basic and clinical medicine, experts in medical education, and the heads of undergraduate and international student education at the university. This meeting focused on the critical educational initiatives for 2024 at ZJU-ISM, including the education system, MBBS curriculum, course clusters construction and other pertinent issues. All committee members actively participated in the discussions, providing insights and actions to improve the quality of education.
Professor Luo Jianhong said that the establishment of the Education Committee is very important and should play an active role. They will not only be able to advise on the development of high-quality medical education at a macro level, but will also be able to guide the Teaching Management Team in the management and quality assurance of the teaching and learning process at a micro level. He concluded the discussion by saying, “To develop a high-quality education with ZJU-ISM characteristics, ZJU-ISMers should aim high on the basis of the foundation already laid , but also look into the future and plan development with high standards.”
Prof. Wang Kai gave a closing speech, summarizing the current development status and challenges of ZJU-ISM. He emphasized that the education and cultivation of medical talents is a complex systematic project, which is a gradual process. “The development of high-quality education in ZJU-ISM should continue to focus on exploring new projects, improving the education system, attracting high-level talents, and creating a high-quality and internationally competitive faculty.”
The Education Committee is a consultative organization to guide and advise on the development strategy and planning, major reforms, policy formulation and management systems related to talent cultivation at ZJU-ISM. It is committed to promoting innovation in education and teaching, improving the learning management system and deepening teaching reforms. It will undoubtedly contribute to the overall improvement of the quality of talent cultivation at the new ZJU-ISM.
