Volunteers in red vests, holding fire safety pamphlets, weaved through the bluestone-paved paths and clusters of ancient architecture. Approaching passing tourists and shop owners, the international students greeted them in earnest though slightly accented Chinese: Hello, please take a look at the fire safety guide—it contains important knowledge on fire and electrical safety. At key fire safety points, the volunteers also assisted firefighters in demonstrating the operation of fire extinguishers on-site and explained essential fire safety knowledge in English to foreign visitors.

ASHYROV AYMURAT, an international student from Turkmenistan, said: This event breaks away from traditional publicity methods. Conducting fire prevention campaigns in places like Fotang Old Street, which features clusters of wooden buildings, has given me a more intuitive understanding of the fire risks associated with wooden structures, while also bringing practical fire safety knowledge to the residents and visitors here.

The official in charge of the Fotang Town Emergency Fire Safety Management Station pointed out that the participation of international students has not only addressed the communication challenges with foreign tourists in the scenic area but has also enhanced the reach of fire safety knowledge through a cross-cultural perspective.
