Fang has been engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of common and difficult diseases in neurology department. She studied epilepsy diagnosis and treatment and electroencephalography at the Epilepsy Center of the University of Alberta in Canada. She is committed to the clinical and basic research of cognitive function in children epilepsy and female epilepsy fertility. Fang is also a member of Youth Committee of Chinese Anti-Epileptic Association and Youth Committee of Zhejiang Medical Association Neurology Branch.

Zhao is the Executive Director of the Department of Neurology of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Deputy director of the Neurology Branch of Zhejiang Neuroscience Society, a member of the Neurogenetics Group of the Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Doctors Association, a member of the Basic and Clinical Committee of Chinese Neuroscience Society, a member of the Neurology Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, a member of the Neurology Branch of Zhejiang Medical Doctors Association, and an editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics. Zhao has led eight scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation, and published 35 SCI papers in journals such as Brain, Arch Neurol (JAMA Neurol), etc.
