Research Direction:1. Molecular and Cellular basis to inflammation and innate immunity; 2. Immunometabolism;3. Protein acylation. Engaged primarily in research concerning innate immunity, metabolism, and the interplay between immunity. Dedicated to exploring the regulatory mechanisms of protein palmitoylation mediated by the palmitoyltransferase family at the cellular, molecular, and whole-animal levels, aiming to elucidate how this modification affects protein function, identify and characterize novel palmitoylated proteins, and propose new signaling pathways. Preliminary research has, for the first time, clarified that the NOD-like receptor family proteins NOD1 and NOD2 can undergo palmitoylation catalyzed by the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC5, thereby localizing to the plasma membrane and bacterial phagosome membrane to initiate host cell innate immune responses (SCIENCE, first author), which has been recognized with the Zhejiang University Top Ten Academic Progress Award.
