On the morning of June 10, the International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University officially opened with a launch ceremony.As a branch of the Zhejiang University Library, it shares access to the University Library’s print collections and digital resources. The new library also offers ample space for reading, study, and academic exchange, providing strong support for teaching and research at the School.
Huang Hefeng, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Dean of the International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University , together with Lu Ping, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang University Library, unveiled the plaque for the new library.The library has a total floor area of approximately 10,000 square meters. In its first phase, the first and second floors are open, featuring a small lecture hall, 20 seminar rooms of various sizes, and more than 300 reading seats.The initial collection includes over 57,000 volumes. Books can be borrowed and returned across the main university library and its branches, with full access to shared digital resources.

In her speech, Huang Hefeng noted that libraries are vital platforms for the preservation and advancement of knowledge. She added that the International Medical School Library also carries the mission of promoting international medical education and cultural exchange, and should serve both faculty and students as well as the local community.On behalf of the School, she expressed sincere gratitude to the relevant units, departments, and staff members for their dedicated efforts in building the library.

Lu Ping congratulated the International Medical School on the opening of its library, welcoming it into Zhejiang University’s “Knowledge Service Network” featuring shared resources, connected services, and smart collaboration.She expressed her hope that faculty and students will make full use of this new modern library, allowing the “Qiushi Spirit” to thrive in every book, under every light, and through every exchange of ideas.

At the ceremony, the University Library presented reading cards to faculty and staff of the International School of Medicine, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, and the Zhejiang University International Institutes of Medicine.
Relevant departments of Yiwu City donated books to the International Medical School Library. The School also presented reading cards to Yiwu residents and opened the library’s reading spaces to the public.

Chen Weiying, Vice Dean of the International School of Medicine, recommended two medical classics—The Flexner Report and When Breath Becomes Air—and shared her reflections on reading them. Teachers and students from Zhuangyuanli Primary School and Jiangbin Kindergarten in Yiwu, as well as from the International Medical School, presented reading-themed performances.
Officials from the Yiwu Municipal Party History Research Office, Archives Bureau, Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, Fotang Town, the Shuangjianghu New Area Construction and Development Headquarters, and Shuangjianghu Group attended the ceremony. Representatives from the Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the University Library, the International School of Medicine, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, and the Zhejiang University International Institutes of Medicine were also present.
