On April 29, a Tanzanian medical expert delegation, including Dr. Mpoki Ulisubisya, Executive Director of the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI); Dr. Wanin Othman Kiloloma, President of the Tanzania Neurosurgical Society; and Dr. Aingaya Kaale, Secretary-General of the Tanzania Neurosurgical Society, visited the International School of Medicine, Zhejiang University (ZJU-ISM). The delegation was received by Professor Lou Min, Executive Vice Dean of ZJU-ISM, and Professor Lou Xiaoxiao, Vice Dean of ZJU-ISM.
During the visit, the delegation toured the campus and its teaching and research facilities. When meeting with Tanzanian MBBS students currently studying at ZJU-ISM, the delegation gained a detailed understanding of the students’ academic and living conditions. They encouraged the students to cherish the high-quality educational resources available, strive to become key pillars in advancing healthcare development in their home country, and contribute to deepening China-Tanzania friendship.
During the meeting, Professor Lou Min extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the school’s achievements in talent cultivation, disciplinary development, and international exchanges. She noted that this visit marked another round of in-depth engagement following ZJU-ISM’s delegation visit to Tanzania’s MOI last year. She expressed the school’s hope to initiate practical and substantive cooperation on previous exchanges.
Dr. Mpoki Ulisubisya presented the development of the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute. As a national specialized hospital established by the Tanzanian government, MOI holds significant influence in orthopedics, trauma, and neurosurgery. Dr. Wanin Othman Kiloloma provided an overview of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Both sides discussed future collaboration in areas such as clinical training, medical education, and scientific research.
